C.S. Lewis's Dymer: 'A splendour in the dark, a tale, a song'

his lecture will begin by looking at the literary form and narrative structure of Lewis's Dymer, because Lewis believed firmly in the significance of literary form. (For example, Lewis said that the man who writes a love sonnet not only loves the beloved, he also loves the sonnet.) Thus, we will explore the question: why did Lewis use Narrative Poetry as the means to communicate this particular story? This will be followed by an exposition of the poem itself in order to familiarize the reader with the narrative of Dymer along with a consideration of the poem's grand themes and ideas.
