Harald Leibrecht: “New Opportunities for the Transatlantic Partnership”

**Introduction by: Dr. Christian Brecht, German Consul General**

The Honorable Harald Leibrecht, member of the German Bundestag and  Coordinator for Transatlantic Cooperation in Germany’s Foreign Office, will be discussing a range of topics including the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations between the EU and US, as well as the results of the
German elections on 22 September, and the possible implications on the transatlantic relationship.

Leibrecht has been  in the Bundestag since 2002. He is Deputy Chair of the sub-committee on International, Cultural, and Educational Affairs, a member of the committee on Economic Cooperation and Development, and a substitute member of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Leibrecht has a particularly close relationship to the United States, as he was born in Evanston, IL and holds both German and US citizenship. He studied international business administration in France, Germany, the UK, and the US.

This speaker luncheon is organized by the Office of International Program Development and the Department of German, and supported by the German Consulate General in Chicago. Lunch will be provided.
