An evening with Mary Katharine Ham
Illinois Policy Institute
Thursday, May 8, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Please join Illinois Policy on May 8 for an entertaining look at politics and big government as we welcome Mary Katharine Ham to provide a humorous inside look into the inner workings of Washington, D.C.
Mary Katharine Ham is a writer and political commentator who spars weekly with Bill O’Reilly on “The O’Reilly Factor.” A Fox News contributor, Ham appears regularly on “America’s Newsroom,” “Red Eye” and “Your World with Neil Cavuto.” She is editor-at-large for HotAir.com, a conservative and libertarian news site. Ham is also a Twitter enthusiast, and a recent guest-host of “The View.” A fourth-generation newspaper journalist, she did a stint covering NASCAR, high school football, and the county’s largest legumes before embracing new media and heading to Washington, D.C., where her career goal has been to discover the formula for talking about politics without being a blowhard. She created The Heritage Foundation’s first-ever blog in 2004 and won several awards for her work in the fledgling online video world— her series is called “HamNation”— and has written for The Weekly Standard. She’s from North Carolina, was raised on Tobacco Road basketball and SEC football, and serves on the board of the Travis Manion Foundation, a nonprofit that does work with returning veterans and families of the fallen. She climbed Kilimanjaro on her honeymoon, and hopes to add more mountains to the list with a toddler in tow. She lives in Virginia with her husband, her daughter and her fat cat.
