C2ST Speakeasy at Geek Bar’s SCIENCE!
Tuesday

“The Sex Life of Reptiles” with Dr. Angela Hung

The Chicago Council on Science and Technology is kicking off a new initiative: C2ST Speakeasy. This series of programs will bring you the same high-quality scientists as always, but in the comfort of your favorite bar. Enjoy a drink in a casual setting, while learning about science from the experts.

Dr. Angela Hung has spent the last decade studying sexual behavior in reptiles; some of these behaviors may seem familiar to us — some are more attractive than others, they do strange things for love, and sometimes they cheat on their partners. ¬†She will tell us about mating displays, infidelity, creative abilities, and the occasional sex-role reversal. What is the evolutionary meaning of it all? Do we see ourselves in our reptilian cousins? Come find out!

Dr. Hung is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Prairie State College, where she teaches Environmental Biology and Organismal Biology. Her research focuses on mate selection, immunology and genetics in Anolis lizards and fish. She has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of New Mexico. In her spare time she makes gourmet Jello shots.

This program is presented in partnership with Geek Bar Chicago
