How Can the Fed Help Fix the Economy?
University of Chicago Institute of Politics
Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM
As president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minnesota from 2009 through 2015, Narayana Kocherlakota was active in setting monetary policy during the financial crisis, recession, and recovery. Evidence from the sluggish recovery led him to substantially revise his views on the most prudent course of action. At this event, Kocherlakota, PhD’87 (Economics), the Lionel W. McKenzie Professor of Economics at Rochester University, will discuss the impact of monetary policy. In conversation with Becker Friedman Institute director Lars Peter Hansen, he will explore the Fed’s evolving role in an uncertain globalized economy.
Doors will open at 6:00pm for registration and a reception. The speaking program will begin at 6:30pm.
