Scientists – trying standup comedy?
Science Riot, presented by the Chicago Council on Science and Technology, will bring two science comedy storytelling shows to the city this spring. A lineup of real scientists will complete a crash course in comedy before presenting a short comedy talk about their expertise.
Chicago Council on Science and Technology (C2ST) has partnered with Science Riot, a nonprofit that operates in cities throughout the country, to bring a public science comedy show featuring ‘scientists’ in the broadest sense of the term. Past presenters have included an archaeologist, a registered dietician, robotics engineer, cartographer, and pilot, among other professions. Science Riot focuses on how to make their expertise relatable and interesting, and funny! Come show your support for local experts performing standup for their first time ever.
Want to see great comedy and learn something new in the process? Get your tickets for our inaugural show at The Field Museum below! There’s nothing like a night out with comedy, a few drinks, and science!
Opening night is Friday, March 23rd, 2018 at The Field Museum’s Rice Hall. 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. This show is for adult audiences only (18 years old or older). Please also RSVP on Facebook (here). Don’t wait to purchase your tickets–Science Riot shows typically sell out!
If you can’t make it to the first showing, save the date for the encore performance with the same ensemble of scientists at Theater on the Lake! The second show will take place April 20th at 7 pm.
DETAILS: Parking is available at Soldier Field’s North Garage. Parking fee is typically $22 (special events at Soldier Field can cause prices to fluctuate). Please consider car-pooling or use public transportation (Roosevelt stop on the Green and Orange lines).
