Dr. Hal C. Lawrence III, is the Executive Vice President and CEO of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He received his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, attended medical school at Indiana University and did his residency training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  Following residency training, Dr. Lawrence was in private practice in Asheville, North Carolina, and professor of ob-gyn at the University of North Carolina. He helped found an ACGME-approved ob-gyn residency training program in Asheville at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in 1992. He chaired that department and program until coming to ACOG in the Fall of 2007 to serve as the Vice President for Practice Activities. In 2011 he was promoted to Executive Vice President and CEO. Dr. Lawrence is active in many national and international medical organizations, has served as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a reviewer for the journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology.
