Israeli Women & Leadership: Golda’s Legacy and Beyond

Spertus

Monday, April 27, 2020 – 7:00 pm

Since Israel’s founding, women leaders have made their mark, from Golda Meir’s election as prime minister, right up to today’s rising voices.

Forbes chose Israel to host its 1st Global Women’s Summit because of the country’s longstanding track record in making leadership roles available to women. Israeli women represent 35% of senior executives and 30% of the Knesset, both significantly higher than similar figures in the United States.

What can we learn from Israeli women about leadership?

To uncover lessons from the experiences of Israeli women in leadership, Spertus presents Dr. Mira Sucharov, Associate Professor of Political Science at Carleton University, in conversation with Spertus Institute’s Dean and Chief Academic Officer Dr. Keren E. Fraiman.

Dr. Sucharov will train a lens on the leadership styles of Israeli women in politics, grassroots organizing, education, and the arts. Audience members will learn about a variety of dynamic initiatives in Israel and get a glimpse of the challenges and opportunities facing Israeli women today. The discussion will culminate with Mira Sucharov offering her own thoughts on public-commentary leadership around the topic of Israel-Palestine.

Mira SucharovDr. Mira Sucharov is a widely published author whose op-eds have appeared in Haaretz, The Forward, The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, The Huffington Post, and The Daily Beast.
