Fighting for Civil Rights in the Digital Age

May 4, 2019 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Legal scholar Danielle Citron seems to be everyone’s expert right now—she’s been called upon or cited by the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, Time, Cosmopolitan, Google and the Department of Homeland Security—just to name a few. And it is no wonder: her specialty is the ultra-timely hot-button topic of our civil liberties online. Citron’s research and thought leadership (including the book Hate Crimes in Cyberspace), highlight some of the most pointed questions of our day, including how (and whether) to legislate around complex issues such as cyberstalking, online privacy, and what is and isn’t considered internet harassment. Join us to find out: Which parts of your online self belong to you? Which are subject to legal protection, and which are fair game?
