Join the IOP as we welcome Eddie T. Johnson, Superintendent of the Chicago Police Department, for a conversation on public safety and police reform in Chicago. In 2016, Superintendent Johnson was selected to serve as the City of Chicago’s highest ranking police office after almost three decades of service in the force. Three years later, new Mayor Lori Lightfoot re-appointed him to the job.
A lifelong resident of Chicago, Superintendent Johnson grew up in the Cabrini-Green public housing project and currently lives on the south side. With his unique perspective on procedural justice, community-police relations, and police accountability, Superintendent Johnson will share insights he has learned in his time as a Chicago police officer.
This conversation will be moderated by Brandis Friedman, correspondent and host for WTTW’s Chicago Tonight.
